เรื่องราว อดีตทหารเรือ จิม แฮนสัน (เลียม นีสัน) หนีความวุ่นวายมาใช้ชีวิตอย่างสงบสุขในฟาร์มนอกเมือง วันหนึ่งเขากลับเจอสองแม่ลูก ชื่อ โรซ่า (เทเรซ่า รูอิซ) และ มิเกล (เจค็อบ เปเรซ) หลบหนีเอาตัวรอดจากกลุ่มคนที่หวังเอาชีวิตพวกเขาเพราะไปพัวพันกับกลุ่มนักฆ่าค้ายา มัวริซิโอ (ฮวน พาโบล ราบา) ด้วยความที่มีเลือดนักสู้อย่างเข้มข้นในตัวทำให้ แฮนสัน ตัดสินใจช่วยเหลือสองแม่ลูกทันที โดยที่ไม่รู้เลยว่าการตัดสินใจครั้งนี้จะพาความอันตรายมาสู่ชีวิตของเขาอย่างไม่คาดคิด ทั้งยังเดือดร้อนไปถึง ซาร่าห์ (แคทธาลีน วินนิค) ลูกสาวผู้เป็นตำรวจของเขาอีกด้วย

Jim Hanson’s quiet life is suddenly disturbed by two people crossing the US/Mexico border – a woman and her young son – desperate to flee a Mexican cartel. After a shootout leaves the mother dead, Jim becomes the boy’s reluctant defender. He embraces his role as Miguel’s protector and will stop at nothing to get him to safety, as they go on the run from the relentless assassins.
