เริ่มจากการมาท่องเที่ยวของคนกลุ่มหนึ่งที่มีนักเศรษฐีมากปัญญาชาร์ลส์ มอร์ส(Anthony Hopkins) ตากล้องช่างภาพแฟชั่นโรเบิร์ต กรีน(Alec Baldwin)และกลุ่มลูกทีมคนอื่นๆ หลังจากไปถึงที่พักอย่างสบายใจต้องแปลกใจเมื่อไปเห็นภาพที่น่าสนใจ จากในรูปเป็นผู้ชายล่าหมี ซึ่งนั้นทำให้โรเบิร์ตเกิดไอเดียในการนำเขามาถ่ายภาพแฟชั่น จึงต้องเดินทางไปตามตัวที่อยู่ไกลออกไปจากที่พักเดิม แล้วโรเบิร์ตได้ชวนชาร์ลส์กับสตีเฟ่นเพื่อนอีกหนึ่งคน(Harold Perrineau)ตามไปด้วย ระหว่างการเดินทางด้วยเครื่องบินเกิดประสบอุบัติเหตุตากฝูงนกพุ่งชนเกิดเสียการควบคุม ผลคือเครื่องบินตกกลางแม่น้ำและขึ้นฝั่งที่ไหนก็ไม่ทราบ ไม่มีใครรู้ว่าพวกเขาอยู่ไหน แม้แต่พวกเขาเอง ปัญหาที่แย่กว่านั้นคือการมาตัวเปล่า ไม่มีอาหาร ไม่มีอุปกรณ์ช่วยเหลือเพียงพอ สิ่งเดียวที่จะรอดจากป่าที่ปกคลุมหิมะหนาวเหน็บได้คือ"สติปัญญา"

The plane carrying wealthy Charles Morse crashes down in the Alaskan wilderness. Together with the two other passengers, photographer Robert and assistant Stephen, Charles devises a plan to help them reach civilization. However, his biggest obstacle might not be the elements, or even the Kodiak bear stalking them -- it could be Robert, whom Charles suspects is having an affair with his wife and would not mind seeing him dead.
